I find that
often I do not have time to read lengthy posts. I’m guessing that you don’t
either. So here are a few short devotional readings for you. May they encourage
you today!
THE ROAD WE
WALK
“Enter ye
in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth
to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the
gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that
find it.”
Matthew 7:13-14
Walking
with God is not an easy path to tread. Our walk will not always be down a newly
paved road. Often the path we must walk is filled with rocks, hills, potholes
and curves. We cannot always see what is ahead. There may be times we are hit
hard and never even saw it coming. Walking with God requires overcoming many
obstacles. There may be times we fall down, but with the help of our Lord, we
can get back up and continue on toward an eternal home with Him.
So
what do we need to be successful on our Christian walk? Four things are very
important. First we must desire to be successful in our walk. Second we
must plan or study how to walk with God. Third, we must put our plan
into action. Finally, we must invest in walking with God. This is
not so different from an exercise plan we follow by walking to obtain better
health. We have a desire to do the exercise. We set aside time to exercise
because we consider it to be a priority in our life. We follow through with our
plans to exercise and we do it repeatedly so that we are investing our time
with hopes of good results.
God
expects us to invest in walking with Him. He has blessed us and placed us here
to do His will. If we faithfully walk down the road with Him we do not have to
hope for good results, we know without a doubt, that we will be rewarded with
an eternal home with him.
The road we walk is long,
my friend,
We cannot see the way;
We walk by faith, our
trust in God,
Toward one eternal day.
